Shanmuga Sundaram Sivaraman

Sony Ericsson, a well known mobile phone manufacturer who are introducing new mobile models at regular intervals. Sony Ericsson was the company which made the music culture popular among the youth through its Walkman phones. Sony has launched tons of walkman phones and W580i is one among them. Sony Ericsson W580i has really done well in the market when compared to the other walkman phones from Sony. It can be even said that W580i will get a place in the list of Top 5 walkman phones of Sony. Let us peep into the details of Sony Ericsson W580i,

W580i will attract people with its stylish and sexy look which is missing in the other Sony phones. Sony has done something special to make W580i look sexy, may be the overcoat of the phone must have been done with care. The slider present in the phone is quite tough to lift as two hands must be used sometimes to lift the slider. This 3.3 ounces mobile phone has very good navigational controls provided on the upper cover of the slider. The keypad resides inside the Upper cover of the slider as it will be in all other slider phones.

There is a big media control button present just below the Sony logo on the upper cover of the slider which is accompanied by four navigations buttons as well. There is a call answer and call hang buttons present on the sides of this big button. The Back and cancel buttons are present above the call answer and call hang buttons respectively. The power button is present on the top of the phone while the volume adjustment button on the right side. There is a memory card slot present on the top and the camera is present at the back panel.

The phone has a 12MB internal memory which is expandable using a Memory card. Sony has incorporated the ‘shaky control’ feature in the mobile which really makes the job easy for all mobile lovers. The next song is played automatically when the mobile is flipped a bit pressing the dedicated walkman button. Yet another interesting feature is the presence of the lights on the sides of the phone. Whenever a call arrive the lights on the sides starts blinking. These two features has given W580i a great warm welcome in the market but still not all like the annoying lights on the side. The lights start blinking whenever the phone detects any signal so this will be annoying at times.

The walkman player present is same as in other phones and Sony has not improved anything special. The next best thing is the call quality of the phone as Sony Ericsson W580i has the best call quality when compared to other walkman phones. No evidences of call drop on W580i as well. Sony Ericsson W580i has a decent backup time of 9 hours and stand by time of 13 days. If you are looking for a decent walkman phone then W580i can be the best of choices.
